Our handmade products represent the highest standards, not only in our observation of Fair Trade practices, but also in our carefully-developed network of crafters. It’s our belief that the uniqueness of all of our Himalayan salt-based products is what makes them so special, and that’s reflected in their handmade production.
Our crafter network is US based so that you get the added benefit of buying American in as many instances as possible. We have vendors that are responsible for our bath & body, skincare, salves & balms, soaps, inhalers & neti pots, and more, using our custom and proprietary recipes, formulations and exclusive designs.
If mass production were the main goal, some of our products that our customers love and enjoy might never get produced. By maintaining our network of crafters, we’re able to guarantee a uniqueness and handmade quality you often aren’t likely to find in a product produced by a larger conglomerate. The handmade nature of our products allows us to ensure accountability for authenticity in our products and ingredients.
We’re sure you’ll find that any So Well product brings a tasteful air of handmade design and function to your home or office.
So Well Tooth Powders with Himalayan Salt Ingredients:
Himalayan salt, baking soda, pure Xylitol, and natural essential oils.
What is Xylitol? Pure xylitol is a white crystalline substance that looks and tastes like sugar. Studies using xylitol as either a sugar substitute or a small dietary addition have demonstrated a dramatic reduction in new tooth decay, along with arrest and even some reversal of existing dental caries. Xylitol provides additional protection that enhances all existing prevention methods. This xylitol effect is long-lasting and possibly permanent. Low decay rates persist even years after the trials have been completed.
Xylitol is right here, inside us already. Our bodies produce up to 15 grams of xylitol from other food sources using established energy pathways. Xylitol is not a strange or artificial substance, but a normal part of everyday metabolism. Xylitol is widely distributed throughout nature in small amounts. Some of the best sources are fruits, berries, mushrooms lettuce, hardwoods, and corn cobs. One cup of raspberries contains less than one gram of xylitol. Chewing is a natural process and chewing gums provide some exercise lacking in a refined diet. If chewing is uncomfortable, xylitol mints or candies can also stimulate saliva, the natural tooth protector. Courtesy of http://www.xylitol.org/. Our Xylitol comes from birch trees in the USA.
What else can you do with So Well Tooth Powders? Mix with a little water and gargle. Makes a great mouthwash!
Why should you only use natural and safe oral care? If you are brushing your teeth with regular toothpaste that has triclosan in it, and you are rinsing with tap water that has chlorine in it, you are getting a little chemical reaction right in your mouth.
Cruelty Free & Organic
In the animal rights movement, cruelty-free is a label for products or activities that do not harm or kill animals anywhere in the world. Products tested on animals are not considered cruelty-free, since these tests are often painful and cause the suffering and death of millions of animals every year.
Animal testing is never used in any of our production environments, in order to ensure an ethical product for our consumers. To learn more about cruelty-free products, click here.
The organic movement broadly refers to the organizations and individuals involved worldwide in the promotion of organic farming and other organic products. It started around the first half of the 20th century, when modern large-scale agricultural practices began to appear.
Organic products are produced without the use of manmade chemicals or other harmful substances. You can learn more about the standards, benefits and governing regulations of organic products here.
At So Well, all of our products are held to high standards of cruelty-free and organic production, so you can feel good about the products you’re bringing into your home.
Food Grade Salt
If you’ve tried them, you’re already familiar with the wonderful flavor our gourmet salt products bring to your favorite dishes. What you might not know, though, is that all of the salt used in both our gourmet products, all of our bath & body products, and each therapeutic product comes from our inspected food grade facility, while our lamps, candle holders and other decorative products are produced in an adjacent, separate, facility specializing in decorative crafts. We sample each lot of food grade salt used in both the bath & body and gourmet products and have it analyzed and certified for content to ensure we can guarantee our standards of quality and safety in both of these product categories.
What this means, in short, is that whether you buy our gourmet products or our bath products, you’re receiving salt from a hygienic environment, and can use either product type both against your skin or for edible consumption. Each of our handcrafted products that includes our fair trade Himalayan salt, such as deodorant powders, soaks, or tooth powders, also makes use of only food grade salt.
So whether you’re in the market for a gourmet salt product, one of our bath & body or therapy products, keep in mind that they are both versatile in their uses. For example, you could purchase a 55 lbs. package of coarse or fine salt and use it in both the bathroom and the kitchen.
Peppermint Peppermint’s brisk, uplifting aroma has been enjoyed for centuries, in both aromatherapeutic and culinary applications. Peppermint can be invigorating and rejuvenating.
Peppermint is one of the most useful and beloved essential oils. Refreshing, cooling, uplifting, and restoring, peppermint has a variety of therapeutic uses. Used extensively in both Eastern and Western medicine for everything from indigestion to diarrhea, headaches to tired feet, and toothaches to cramps.
The cooling effect of Xylitol in the mouth makes brushing with Peppermint flavored Nara Cleansing Powder an especially brisk and invigorating experience!
Spearmint Refreshing and invigorating, the aroma of spearmint has been enjoyed throughout the ages for skin and digestive disorders.
Spearmint is a favorite flavor for gums and mints because of its refreshing and cleansing taste. However, this herb has been used for centuries for its therapeutic properties. The Greeks not only used it to scent their bath water, but as a restorative as well. In medieval times, spearmint was used to heal sore gums and whiten teeth. Today, spearmint is a favorite flavoring agent, and it is also a valued aromatic. Its fresh, minty aroma is invigorating and energizing, making it a wonderful scent to come home to and recharge after a demanding, stressful day.
Clove The warm, pungent oils of clove have served as a historical adjunct for overall health for digestive, dental & skin needs.
Cloves were important in the earliest spice trades, probably because of their importance in flavoring foods. Known for their hot, spicy, pungent flavor, cloves are a favorite seasoning spice for meats, baked goods, and beverages. Besides its beloved place in the kitchen, clove essential oil is a valued aromatic, and used traditionally as a remedy for skin conditions, to calm digestive upset, and to relieve nausea.
However, it’s best known for its use as both a breath freshener and toothache reliever.
Cloves remain an important spice commodity, and today are used in everything from perfume to mulled wines and from love potions to pomades.
Cinnamon Cinnamon was once so highly valued that it was used as a trade commodity between India, China, and Egypt.
The smell of cinnamon wafting through the kitchen is probably the most beloved aroma of the Earth’s population. First mentioned in Chinese literature as early as 2700 BC, cinnamon is considered a “warm” herb and is valued in many ancient traditional medical systems, including Ayurvedic medicine. Early Europeans considered cinnamon a “rare and precious spice”, and it was often used in tonics to treat coughs, colds and digestive ailments. Used in just about every kitchen of every culture, cinnamon is treasured for its culinary magic as well as its therapeutic benefits. Cinnamon is especially good for colds, flu, arthritis, rheumatism, and other aches and pains.
Tangerine The sweet, revitalizing aroma of tangerine has been enjoyed throughout the ages as an adjunct to respiratory and general well-being.
Tangerines are much more than a delicious, exotic treat. These fabulous fruits have been used throughout the ages for skin care, digestive health, and system balancing. Their warm, sweet, fresh, and lively scent is especially captivating to children and pregnant women. The French regard tangerine oil as a safe remedy for children suffering from indigestion and hiccoughs. Tangerine oil is also known to inspire, strengthen, and uplift spirits. While some may find it similar to orange, tangerine has its own unique, comforting, and sparkling aroma, and should not be replaced by its citrus sister.
Lemon-Lime Lemons have long been valued for more than lemonade. We know that ancient Egyptians prized this oil for its purported ability to act as an antidote to fish and meat poisoning. And, like lime, it was a staple on 17th century Royal Navy ships to help prevent scurvy. Today, we know lemon can help contain and treat infectious diseases, especially colds and fevers. Its scent also helps to increase concentration, and neutralizes unpleasant odors. Some hospitals use lemon oil to help calm frightened or depressed patients.
Fruity and refreshing, limes have been a kitchen staple for centuries. It is believed that limes were first introduced to the Americas by 16th century Portuguese navigators. The lime soon became a favorite fruit, both for its therapeutic value and taste.
